  40. 1.      Overview
  41.  
  42.         This CD contains the ELSA Display Driver for Microsoft Windows 95.
  43.  
  44.         The driver supports 256, 65536 and 16 Million colors in
  45.         all resolutions available on used ELSA board.
  46.  
  47.         NOTE:
  48.         
  49.         - A free interrupt request (IRQ) has to be reserved for your VICTORY 
  50.           Erazor in the BIOS of your motherboard. 
  51.         
  52.         - It is not possible to use a TV and a computer monitor at the same 
  53.           time.

  73.         In case of trouble during or after installation, please make
  74.         sure you have all the files mentioned above!

  79. 3.      Installation
  80.  
  81.         This section describes the steps to install an ELSA Display
  82.         Driver for Windows 95.
  83.  
  84.         To install the drivers, start the program SETUP.EXE in this
  85.         directory. The installation assistant will help you to install
  86.         the driver with the control panel.
  87.  
  88. 3.1     First installation of ELSA Display Driver
  89.  
  90.         First install Windows 95 without special drivers for the ELSA
  91.         graphics board. The installation procedure should
  92.         find a PCI VGA-compatible display adapter and ask for a
  93.         "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer".
  94.         - Push the "OK"-button
  95.         - "Copy manufacturer's files from:"
  96.           CD-Drive: this directory (e.g.: E:\VICTORY\ERAZOR\WIN95)
  97.           The neccessary files will be copy and Windows 95 asks for
  98.           restart.
  99.         - Push the "Yes"-button

  102.         Normally you need to boot your system. Push the button "Restart
  103.         now".
  104.  
  105. 3.2     Manuell installation of ELSA Display Driver
  106.  
  107.         - Start the dialog "Properties for Display" by clicking right
  108.           mouse button on the desktop or per Control Panel.
  109.         - Select the Property Page "Settings"
  110.         - Push the button "Change Display Type...". A dialog "Change
  111.           Display Type" will pop up.
  112.         - Push the button "Change..." inside the frame "Adapter Type".
  113.           You will see the "Select Device" dialog.
  114.         - In this dialog push the button "Have Disk..." and change to
  115.           the WIN95 directory on the ELSAware CD for your WINNER board.
  116.         - Select in the "Manufacturer" list ELSA WINNER Display Driver
  117.           and in the list "Models" your WINNER board.
  118.         - If you use an ELSA monitor, make the same procedure for
  119.           "Monitor Type" in the "Change Display Type" dialog.
  120.         - Close the dialog "Change Display Type". At this time the
  121.           screen flickers a moment. This is not a bug! Windows tries to
  122.           find out, which graphics modes are available with this
  123.           driver.
  124.         - Now you can select resolution and color depth in the main
  125.           dialog "Properties for Display". For the first installation
  126.           you should select 1024x768 and 256 colors. This configuration
  127.           is available for all memory configurations on all ELSA
  128.           Boards.
  129.         - Close "Properties for Display" by "OK" or "Apply now".
  130.  
  131.         After the restart the configuration of the ELSA display adapter
  132.         Driver starts from the Windows desktop.
  133.  
  134.         - Start the dialog "Properties for Display" by clicking right
  135.           mouse button on the desktop or per Control Panel.
  136.         - Select the Property Page "Settings" or "ELSA WINman".
  137.           - Property Page Settings:
  138.             Standard-Windows-Dialog for changing resolution, color
  139.             depth and font size.
  140.           - Property Page ELSA WINman
  141.             ELSA WINman gives you full control to configure your ELSA
  142.             display adapter perfectly. You can change resolution, color
  143.             depth and refresh rate, screen position etc.
  144.  
  145.         Normally you need to boot your system. Push the button "Restart
  146.         now".
  147.  
  148.         In all following Windows sessions you can change the resolution
  149.         without rebooting your system.

  174. 5.      Release notes

  176. 5.1     DirectDraw/Direct3D support
  177.  
  178.         The display driver do support DirectDraw/Direct3D from DirectX 5,
  179.         but to use it in an application, you must install DirectDraw/
  180.         Direct3D. The Microsoft DirectDraw/Direct3D components are not
  181.         included in the standard retail version of Windows 95. You need
  182.         an installation of DirectX 5.
  183.  
  184.         To install DirectDraw/Direct3D use the CDSETUP from your
  185.         WINNERware CD.
  186.  
  187. 5.2     AGP and Windows 95
  188.  
  189.         AGP is supported only by the Windows version OSR-2.1. This is 
  190.         available after upgrading a Windows 95b (OSR2) version by the 
  191.         USB-Update 'USBSUPP.EXE'.
  192.         The version number of your installed Windows can be found in 
  193.         the registry under: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\
  194.         Windows\CurrentVersion\Version and VersionNumber.

  205.         This section documents known anomalies or problems and gives
  206.         hints on work arounds.

  208.         - Mouse "Pointer trail" does not work.

  210.         - Some older DOS applications will not work correctly on TV,
  211.           screen.
